Ministry of Municipalities and Housing: Over 5,000 Food Samples Tested and More Than 29,000 Inspection Visits Conducted to Serve the Guests of the Most Merciful

The results of the health and food monitoring activities carried out by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by Holy Makkah Municipality, during Hajj season 1447 AH, showed the conduct of more than 29,000 inspection visits to catering kitchens and food establishments in Holy Makkah and the Holy Sites, in addition to the testing of more than 5,000 food samples through field and fixed laboratories, as part of a monitoring system aimed at enhancing the safety of the food provided to the Guests of the Most Merciful during the season.

The Ministry explained that the monitoring activities covered central markets, storage sites, and catering establishments, in addition to field campaigns aimed at enhancing food safety and raising the level of compliance in Holy Makkah and the Holy Sites during the Hajj season.

The Ministry affirmed that the food monitoring system operated in the field through 5 mobile laboratories, 10 on-site testing devices, and approximately 40 monitoring vehicles, which enhanced the speed of verifying food safety and the immediate handling of observations at high-density locations associated with the movement of pilgrims and their transit between the Holy Sites.

The Ministry also clarified that — praise be to God — no cases of food poisoning have been recorded during Hajj season 1447 AH to date.

This comes as an extension of the efforts of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing during the Days of Tashreeq, through the continued implementation of its operational and monitoring plans at the Mina site, and the raising of the readiness of field teams and municipal service centers, to ensure the continuity of cleanliness, environmental sanitation, and health monitoring activities, in a way that contributes to enhancing the quality of the services provided to the Guests of the Most Merciful and enabling them to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility.
